1986 Ford F-250 6.9 Diesel with 151,000 Miles

Modifications:
I
bought this truck in the winter of 2007 from the original owner. When
I bought it the injector return lines were leaking so badly the valley
was filled with a pool of Diesel and the
transmission was not shifting into 2nd gear correctly. An
adjustment of the 1-2 band and a few high-speed off-road runs on the
local Forrest Service Roads seemed to fix the shifting at first. All
was fine until I was towing a Mercedes home with it and lost 2nd gear
for good. After that same 2 hour trip home the lower radiator hose blew
out as I pulled into my driveway. I knew then that the trunk had
faithfully accepted me as it's new owner. This spring I had the
transmission rebuilt and it shifts perfectly now. Next on the repair
list is to replace the two out of round front tires.
This Truck serves as a back-up vehicle, offroad toy and tow-rig. Long term plans include fitting a solid front axle, locking differentials, winch, on-board air, and pop-top camper for an expedition to Alaska.
